Established in 1897, the Music Teachers’ Association of California is an organization dedicated to building professional musicians. Each year, MTAC administers the Certificate of Merit evaluation (widely known as the CM test), hosting these tests virtually on their website. Tests are given based on the musician's level, which is determined usually by their teacher or themself. If a registered student successfully passes their level’s test, they will be awarded a certificate to celebrate their achievement.
